Dear The Hon Mike Baird MP (Premier of NSW) Our Korean community of Sydney has worked hard for the last 5 years to achieve what we have strived for over the past years. We have been very grateful for receiving $1 miilion support from the Federal government for this project as well. This funding will go to Strathfield Council and be used for Korean community-themed park design and infrastructure construction. I have visited Korea to promote this project at Korea Parliament House last month and had opportunity to meet many senior members at Parliament House. They provided me with great support. I have also visited Seoul City which has constructed about 7 Seoul parks or Seoul streets around the world. They expressed a great interest on this project. Korean Task Force Committee has sent a letter asking for their support on this project via Consulate General of Republic of Korea. I have heard that this year is the 25th year sister city anniversary between NSW and Seoul City. This year will be the best opportunity to make Seoul City be involved in Korean Garden project. I believe that they will successfully create a beautiful Korean Garden in Bressington Park. Seoul City wants to make MOU with NSW government on this project. Gapyeong City Council will erect Gapyeong Battle War Memorial Stone in Bressington Park to commemorate Australian Soldiers who were sacrificed during the Korea War (1950 – 1953) Light railway will be constructed from Parramatta to Strathfield. The train station will be built in front of the Korean Garden. We would like to suggest the train station to be named as KOREAN GARDEN STATION (OR HANKOOK GEONGWON STATION). Whole Korean community will appreciate your kind consideration on our suggestions.
